In 2024, Ontario Council adopted a new tagline that says it all: “Women Leading Change.”
Leadership, education, and action run through everything the Council does. By rallying local Club members and putting real research behind its asks, the Council has made some serious headway.
Ontario Council has built a strong reputation for its briefs, letters, and submissions to the provincial government. Here's what it's been pushing for:
Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) & Gender-Based Violence: Pushing the province to act on the IPV crisis, backing survivor-protection legislation, and arming local clubs to advocate in their own communities.
Long-Term Care (LTC) Reform: Leading provincial campaigns for unannounced inspections, tougher care standards, and better alignment with the Canada Health Act.
Seniors' Advocacy: Keeping the pressure on the province to fund an independent Seniors' Advocate for Ontario.
Environmental Protection: Fighting to protect the Greenbelt, ban cosmetic pesticides, and get municipalities moving on climate action.
Warming Centres & Vulnerable Populations: Championing life-saving supports for unsheltered and vulnerable people during extreme cold.
